After more than 12 years of constant use by lively kids, our present outdoor playground is now unfit for purpose. Much of the equipment is worn or broken meaning certain areas are now completely closed off. The flooring and fencing also desperately needs replacing to ensure that our kids can play safely without worry.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity has launched the OUT TO PLAY Appeal to raise £230,000 to renovate the playground. Our aim is to give sick kids a better, safer and more exciting experience of playing outdoors.
The total cost of the playground will be £230,000, which includes the following equipment:
The equipment will be accessible for all levels of physical ability, so that children with complex needs can benefit from outdoor play as much as other children. At the same time we have thought carefully about the safety of our children. There will be new flooring to creating a safe and welcoming space. The perimeter fence will also be reinforced to make the playground secure.
With NHS budgets under such pressure, this vitally necessary project simply won’t happen unless Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity raises the money for it. That is why we are turning to you for your support. What could be a better gift for sick children than a playground rebuilt and equipped to bring joy and excitement into their lives?
