Blues players and No5 Chambers brought cheer to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital on Tuesday 12 December when they dropped in to hand out gifts surprising patients on Wards 12 and 9 and in Outpatients.

Armed with lots of presents and plenty of Christmas cheer, the group included six players from Birmingham City Football Club Tomasz Kuszczak, Marc Roberts, Harlee Dean, David Davis, Sam Gallagher and Josh Dacres-Cogley, who spent time chatting with children and staff, as well as some excited parents, posing for pictures and handing out Blues goody bags and Christmas gifts.

David Davis, Blues midfielder said, “We enjoyed our visit and the reception we got from kids, their parents and staff was humbling. It’s important, not least at this time of year, to try and do something that hopefully will put a few smiles on faces. The Club and the players were delighted to also lend out support to the Out to Play Christmas appeal.”

Blues striker, Sam Gallagher added, “It’s sometimes so hard for mums or dads and their children - and you can see how much it means to the staff because they can see how much it brightens up the kids. It’s always humbling to do things like that, it brings everything into perspective a little bit.”

Miranda Williams, Public Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity, commented, “Thank you so much to the Birmingham City Football Club and No5 Chambers for bringing Christmas cheer to our wards and departments. It was lovely that they gave so much time to the children during their visit, taking their time to chat, have pictures taken and give the presents they brought with them. The visit really did lift the spirits of our sick children and helped to spread a magical buzz around the hospital – so thank you.”
